Frequently asked questions

Buying & devices

Which devices are supported?
iPhone with iOS 16 or later, iPad with iPadOS 16 or later, and Android phones and tablets on Android 7 or later. Get it on the App Store or Google Play.
Is there a subscription?
No — BetaSuite is a one-off purchase on the App Store or Google Play. Pay once, yours for life.
Do I need an account?
BetaSuite itself doesn't require an account, but you'll need a valid App Store (Apple ID) or Google Play account to purchase and download the app.

Privacy & data

What is Confidential Mode?
Confidential Mode blocks cloud sync and cloud AI, keeping processing local-only where possible.
How do I delete my data?
Open BetaSuite and go to Settings → Data → Wipe all app data.
Who can see my data?
Only you, unless you choose to share. BetaSuite runs no server of its own, so your recordings and feedback never leave your phone until you pick a destination. Your project database is encrypted on the device with a key held in the iOS Keychain or Android Keystore, and your captures live in the app's private storage. Confidential Mode locks down every cloud route for NDA work.

Features & reports

Can I run a test checklist or protocol?
Yes. Build a reusable protocol — each step can be Pass/Fail, a rating, an NPS score, or multiple choice — have BetaSuite Assist draft one from a short description, or read one straight from a manufacturer's PDF or photo. Run it step by step during a session — every step's verdict is included in the report. You can share a whole protocol set with other testers as a copy-paste code or a file; it works with no server and no account.
Does BetaSuite work offline?
Yes. Your projects, recordings, sessions, and feedback live entirely on your device, so capturing, annotating, and building reports all work with no connection. You only need the internet for optional extras — cloud AI, weather on the overlay, saving to a cloud folder, or posting a feature request.
What format are the reports?
Polished PDF or Word (DOCX). Each report has a cover, an at-a-glance summary, per-session breakdowns, your photos in the sections you choose, and an optional AI-written summary — then you email or share it straight from the app.
Can I use my own AI provider?
Yes. BetaSuite Assist (cloud) is the default. On a supported iPhone or iPad, switch to Apple Intelligence in Settings to run AI fully on-device instead — or bring your own API key for Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or DeepSeek. Every AI feature asks for consent before any data leaves your device, and you can turn AI off entirely.
What languages does BetaSuite support?
28 languages, and it follows your device language automatically — so testers around the world each see the app in their own. You can also override the language any time in Settings.

Recording & evidence

Can I record the screen and the camera at the same time?
Yes. BetaSuite records your device screen and the camera together and composites them into a single picture-in-picture video file, so the camera view is part of the exported video rather than just an on-screen preview. The camera defaults to the rear ultra-wide lens so it points at the hardware you are testing, not at you, and you can flip to the front lens at any time.
Do photos and videos carry a visible date and time?
Yes, and it is mandatory. A second-accurate date and time is burned into the pixels of every photo and video as it is captured — not written to metadata, which can be edited afterwards. GPS coordinates, place name, live weather, season, device info, a custom watermark and a logo are optional extras you can switch on.
How do I capture a fault I did not see coming?
Instant Capture keeps a rolling buffer while it runs, so you tap once after something happens and it saves the last 15–30 seconds. It is built for intermittent faults you cannot predict or film in advance.
Can I mark the exact moment something went wrong?
Yes. A one-tap marker records the moment with a second-accurate timestamp, plus an optional voice note with transcription and a snapshot of device, battery and network state at that instant. Markers sit on the session timeline and are reproduced in the report — they are recorded against the session rather than burned into the video track.
Can I import footage I already shot?
Yes. Import photos and videos from your camera roll or files, and BetaSuite bakes the overlay in using the file's original capture date and time, not the moment you imported it. Where the file carries location data, the weather for that date and place is filled in too.
